Local trio Buana are leading lights of the next generation of Trad groups in the north of Ireland. With each member being a multi-instrumentalist their sound is varied enough to do justice to the most upbeat jigs and reels that would make any ceili house bounce as well as having the dynamics to let airs and ballads be preformed at their most haunting and emotional.

There is a vibe generated by diddilee-dee that makes you want to clap your hands or stamp your feet along with a jolly jig, while washing it down with a pint of the black stuff or a fine Irish whiskey. These nights are a must for all who want to witness how traditional music and traditional bars have intertwined for generations in Ireland.

The RETRO DISCO - Classic Chart Hits

The Retro Disco with its playlist of the hits of yesteryear and free admission policy is firmly established as one of Belfast’s top nights out for those who love to party to the sounds of the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s & 90s. Classic album tracks from artists who have made real music that has stood the test of time. 

The Retro Disco gives refuge to those that have lost any connection with modern pop music. Only classics count as the playlist is exclusively drawn from the best 20th century sounds. From this extensive palette the music is matched to the mood 3 times a week by veteran Dj Dr John E alongside new Thursday night resident Andrea McVeigh. Both djs have an extensive knowledge of past masters from a variety of genres and requests are welcome so why not put them to the test?  Think Radio 1 in the 80s, think ’our tune’ and Simon Bates, think Sunday mornings with Noel Edmonds and the Hairy Cornflake. Something akin to the best wedding disco ever where there’s no need to worry about pleasing the kids. The Retro Disco brings you chart smashes from the golden era of pop. The soundtrack combines a selection of floor fillers from across the ages, just like the classic “Top of the Pops” albums with the hippy chic ladies on the cover only with original artists and recordings.

Laverys are pleased to announce the newest addition to our Public Bar entertainment program; Rawhide. There’s no prizes for guessing that our newest arrival is a night dedicated to country music. The brainchild of Andrea McVeigh and partner Patric Baird, Rawhide consists of many styles that are country at heart be it US country, old country, nu-country, alt-country, bluegrass, cowboy music or Americana. So stick on your Stetson hat and cowboy boots and walk the line down to Laverys to hear the best bitter sweet tunes and hillbilly boogies. No country for old men this is not as there’s loads of country for men and women, old and young!
